Welcome to the ...

TalkBiz News Affiliate Program

How does it work?

It's simple: You tell people about the newsletter and the free book they get when they subscribe. Use a special link for the recommendation. When they sign up, you get commissions (typically 50%) on whatever they buy from me through the newsletter, for as long as they stay subscribed.

You can get a copy of the book, "Need to Know," here. It's 112 pages of solid information that very few people discuss. It gets rave reviews, from new folks and experienced marketers alike.

While I can't promise any specific results, I can tell you what the averages have been for affiliate promotions. Right about 60% of the people who go to the page based on a recommendation sign up, and 83-86% of those people confirm their subscriptions. So, just over 50% end up fully subscribed and getting the newsletter.

It's not a hard "sale." In the simplest form, you send an email to your subscribers, some of them sign up, and you make money when they buy stuff. It can be just that quick, and can act as a nice one-off promotion with a residual income effect.

After that, I provide the content and do the selling. And you can get started within less than 20 minutes.

Of course, you can also send a series of promotions over time, add it to a success page, mention it in your own products or articles, put up banners or blog roll links, or any other legitimate means to drive traffic. They all combine to increase your potential income from the program.

While this doesn't yield the immediate high payouts of a single affiliate product promotion, it has other advantages. It's a high-converting offer, since it's a free initial product with significant value. The retention rate of TalkBiz News is high, which means the potential for significant recurring income for the whole time someone stays subscribed.

It's not going to make you a fortune all at once, but it can add a useful additional income stream, all for the cost of one or two emails to your subscribers, or a banner or text ad on a site.

The payments are instant, using the Rapid Action Profits script, and are sent directly to your Paypal account.

Referring people to the newsletter is also seen as a useful goodwill gesture by your visitors and subscribers. They get a free copy of "Need to Know," along with the free newsletter. There is currently no promotional material in the sign-up process or the book itself, so it's seen as a genuine free offer, other than the requirement that they subscribe.

If you've read "Need to Know," you're aware that it's not hype to claim that I could easily have turned that content into a high-priced product that would sell well on its own.

Like I said... An easy offer for your visitors to accept.

Why do I ask people to send folks to the newsletter, rather than individual affiliate products?

That one has two answers, both simple. It has the potential to make us both more money in the long run, and it lets me keep control of the actual sales message. That avoids the problem of affiliates making unsupported income claims for the products themselves.

Those combine to make for better long-term results for everyone - including subscribers.

A Special Note for Ad-Swappers

This isn't a traditional form of ad swap. It has, in some ways, a lot more going for it.

First of all, it's pointing your visitors or subscribers to a specific free product that's got a lot more value, if I may express an admittedly biased opinion, than most of the stuff folks offer as a sign-up bonus. You can look at "Need to Know" and judge that for yourself, of course No need to accept my opinion on the matter.

The second advantage is that it's not a "once and done" deal. Every person you recommend to the newsletter who signs up is an opportunity for you to keep making money for as long as they stay subscribed. Consider: If you regularly promote affiliate products paying 50%, you're getting (for the most part) exactly the same thing here, but with me doing the work of creating content and doing the promotions.

And it's an addition to your business's stability. It provides multiple channels of contact. And if they unsubscribe from one list and remain on the other, you've still got that much extra income potential.

I should point out that, except for my annual birthday sale, I don't hammer people with one promotion after another. That means that your immediate income potential won't be as large as it might for a list that's run that way. In the long run, it may be substantially greater, as folks tend to stay subscribed to TalkBiz News for longer than most lists.

The real income potential comes when I roll out new products. Those can make for a nice windfall for affiliates.

Getting started is easy. Read the following terms of service and, if you agree to them, fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

Note: While it is very uncommon so far, I reserve the right to refuse any application for any reason.

Terms of Service

[A] What NOT to Do:

Doing any of the following things will get you terminated as an affiliate. If I do so because I believe you did any of the things listed here, you forfeit any future commissions.

Let's start with the Big One:

1: No Spamming.

For purposes of this document, spamming means a number of things, including the use of any URL that leads to an affiliate link on this site or involved with this program being included in unsolicited bulk email.

Do not tell me it's okay just because your email is "CAN-SPAM Compliant." That's not enough. The recipients must have specifically asked to be on your list (not a purchased list) before they get any emails from you pointing them to the newsletter or any of our products.

I don't assume guilt based on a single complaint, unless there are other factors in addition to an allegation. However, if your emails are generating sufficient complaints to convince me they're being sent to people who did not ask for contact from you, I will remove you from the program.

The term "spamming" also includes the posting of messages to any site, service or other communications channel where the content of the message is not allowed by custom, or where it is specifically forbidden by the terms of said site, service or communications channel.

For example: The Warrior Forum does not allow the use of affiliate links in signature files - at all. So don't.

Other forums may allow these. Posting excessive messages to such forums, in order to get more views for your link, is also considered spamming. That's a call that will be made by the owner of the forum in question, or their designated moderator(s).

An example of advertising not allowed by custom would be IRC chat or instant messaging services. Bulk unsolicited messages to people using these systems is considered spamming, and will result in removal from the program.

Yes, I DO expect you to know the customs and norms of a communications environment before you start advertising to people using that environment.

2. Generating sales which result in an unusually high number of chargebacks or fraudulent orders relative to other affiliates within the program.

3. Advertising or posting affiliate links on sites which contain hate speech, engage in or endorse illegal activities, or from which you have been requested to remove your affiliate links.

4. Using false, fraudulent and/or unlawful advertising for the company, its products and services. This specifically means, but is not limited to, making unsupportable income claims or promises for the product(s).

5. Advertising in a place or manner which we feel may be damaging to the reputation(s) of the company, its staff, products or services. An example which is strictly forbidden is the use of the name of the company, its staff, products or services in Google AdSense ads in the format, "Is XYZ a Scam?," in the promotion of an affiliate link.

6. Piracy (the illegal distribution of copyrighted property) or the facilitation of piracy. This includes the piracy of the property of others outside the company. If you'll pirate other people's products, we have no valid reason to assume you won't pirate ours.

7. Any fraud or apparent fraud committed against the company or its staff.

8. Any other activity relating to the program which you have been asked to cease and which you continue.

9. Violation of, or failure to comply with, any other part of the terms of service.

We reserve the right to terminate anyone's affiliate status at any time. If we terminate an affiliate for reasons not listed here, that affiliate will continue to be paid commissions on any eligible sales that are made to subscribers they referred prior to that point.

In unusual cases, exceptions may be granted to these rules, at the company's discretion, but you should assume they will not.

[B] Payment and Contact Information

Payment is, at the moment, only through PayPal. Please ensure that your correct PayPal address is included in your affiliate profile. To avoid problems with hitting the limits for personal accounts, you must have a Business or Preferred account with Paypal.

Commissions will typically range from 30% to 60% of the sale price of the product offered. The majority of products offered through the newsletter are commissioned at 50%.

We use Rapid Action Profits for processing sales. The way this would work with a 50% commission product is simple. The company is paid 100% on the first sale, and you are paid 100% on the second sale, directly to your PayPal account, at the time of the sale. It would alternate that way for all succeeding sales for that product.

TalkBiz Digital is reponsible for any refund requests made on products for which the company is paid for the sale. You are responsible for refunds on any requests for which you are paid for the sale. This is done to avoid confusion, and to prevent fraud, such as a customer ordering once and requesting refunds from both parties.

It is also the only way to properly refund a payment made using a credit card, rather than available Paypal funds.

Payment for referred subscribers will be for all products or services sold through the newsletter, and ordered directly from Paul Myers or TalkBiz Digital, LLC, for as long as the individual remains subscribed to the newsletter. Payment will also be made for sales of products or services promoted directly to the customer through your own marketing activities, except for those activities which are restricted (see above).

You are responsible for maintaining an up to date PayPal email address and primary contact email address in your account information. These may be the same, if you wish. The primary contact address must be one you monitor.

All contact information given must be true and correct, and you are responsible for maintaining it in a current and accurate state.

[C] Changes to the Program

It may be necessary at some point to make changes to the technologies used in the program. If that happens and it would affect you, you will be notified at the primary contact email address supplied in your account information.

It may also be necessary to change the terms of this agreement at some point. In such a case, you will be notified at the same contact email address referenced above.

Continuing in the affiliate program after such notice is sent will constitute agreement with and acceptance of any such changes.

Sign Up Now

As soon as you sign up, you'll receive an email with your affiliate link for the newsletter, a link to a collection of banner ads of various sizes, and some other goodies you can use to promote the newsletter. Save that email!

Note: When choosing a nickname (your affiliate ID), be aware that this will be displayed in the emails sent to your referred subscribers. It should be 8 characters or less, and not be something offensive or otherwise impolite to include in an email.
